Karen was born in Mexico, where her abuelito instilled in her the importance of living in harmony with and caring for neighbors and nature. At the age of ten, she migrated to New York, where she embraced its diverse cultures while staying rooted in her own heritage. Her firsthand struggles as a newcomer has led her to serve underserved and marginalized communities. She has worked in various capacities, including as an accounting assistant, immigration paralegal, and community health worker.

Karen is thrilled to join Presente! and hopes to leverage her skills to drive Presente!’s mission. She cherishes time spent in nature and is always eager to learn about new cultures. Above all, her favorite role is being a tia.
